About

ME

Hello and welcome!

My name is Vibha and I'm twenty years old. I'm a junior at Tufts University and I have been interested in art and photography for as long as I can remember. Over the past few years, I've explored film & digital photography, photoshop, mixed media art, charcoal sketching, and more recently, concert photography!

I took art classes as a kid and took my first proper film photography course in high school. From then on, I've been mostly learning from Youtube tutorials and most importantly, other people.

About

THIS PAGE

I created this website to organize and display my artistic growth and progress over the years, particularly when I was constructing an AP art portfolio in my senior year of high school. Below, you will find individual sections for concert photography, other digital, film, photoshop, and mixed media work.

I hope I can share with you a piece of why art is special to me as a form of documentation, creative expression, and storytelling.

Thank you for your visit!

CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHY

I've recently had the chance to enter the world of concert photography through my school's newspaper, the Tufts Daily. Here you'll find coverage from several stadium/small venue shows, as well as last year's Boston Calling festival!

Digital

I love digital photography as a means to capture memories and experiences—especially the travels of myself and my family, organized through location-specific albums such as the few examples shown here.

This page contains the largest amount of work, beginning from where I started with an iPhone 5C when I was much younger to my most recent shots through a Nikon D5200 DSLR. It's organized chronologically to illustrate my progress over the years—further improvement is always the goal!

Film

I entered the world of film photography when I began freshman year at my high school, where, as a photography student, I had the opportunity to work regularly in a darkroom. I love how expressive film can be as an art form, especially how the simplicity that it often demands can still convey a complexity of themes and ideas.

The majority of work on this page is a result of the black and white film photography courses I have taken over my four years of high school, shot with a Nikon N8008 on 35 mm film, while the rest comes from various individual projects.

PhotoShop

I have used Adobe Photoshop simply as an editing software for a while, but throughout my time in high school, I was exposed to its capabilities in creating entirely new pieces of my own. I am self-taught and have been learning the software for the past year mostly from Youtube tutorials. The photos I use are either mine or come from free image sites.

I love Photoshop for the way it allows me to turn imagination into a reality. This page consists of mostly individual pieces and a few collections, including a recent independent study through school which combines the mediums of my own digital and film work with a focus on sharing messages and stories.

Mixed Media

This collection of work spans from high school through my first year of college.

As part of my AP art portfolio in my senior year, I combined my individual passions for painting, drawing, and photography by using acrylic paint on top of black and white film prints. Having worked with photoshop as a form of photographic manipulation previously, my interest was in doing the same with paint instead. These works can be found here, alongside my final senior project, which involves using mixed media as a form of historical documentation.

Also included are observational sketches in charcoal, pastel, and gouache, completed during a studio drawing class in my first semester of college.
